In the usual manner for Southwest Louisiana, as summer approaches, we see a growing number of festivals and live entertainment. Thankfully, our very own Crying Eagle Brewing has released the lineup for their upcoming summer concert series, which is gearing up for another exciting season.Each year, Crying Eagle Brewery has a summer concert series and this year, the lineup looks awesome!

Crying Eagle hosts Food Truck Face-Off

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Crying Eagle Brewing Company hosted a food truck war Saturday afternoon.Guests had a wide variety of trucks to choose from with delicious foods from coffee and dessert to Cajun and Korean.“It brought out a lot of people’s families, fun entertainment on a beautiful Saturday and just explore and try all kinds of unique foods and a cool, fun environment,” Eric Avery with Crying Eagle said.The trucks competed for the titles of “most popular,” “people’s choice” and “most creative dish.”The winners received a cash prize.

Kiwanis Club 7th Annual Spooktacular for Coats for Kids

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - The Kiwanis Club of Lake Charles kicked off its 35th Coats for Kids drive with the 7th annual Spooktacular at the Crying Eagle Brewing Company.The Halloween-themed event offered family-friendly activities with a petting zoo, face painting, a silent auction, and poke-the-pumpkin raffles.“We’re very appreciative of the community coming out to support us. Without their help, we could not collect the coats that we collect and we normally collect an average of about 2,000 to 2,500 coats every year that go out to different areas of our community who need coats,” Kiwanis Club Treasurer Ladonna McKnight said.Donated coats will be cleaned and distributed to ten local charitable agencies serving underprivileged children and adults.

Law firms compete in chili and gumbo cook-off

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Law firms throughout Southwest Louisiana hosted their annual Oktoberfest gumbo and chili cook-off fundraiser at the Crying Eagle Brewery.Those competing in the contest put their cooking skills to the test by serving up their best pots of gumbo and chili.Many who came out to the event got the chance to try a variety of the two dishes as each team had its unique recipes.“Food is love in Southwest Louisiana. We just love to eat, we love to come to a table and enjoy a meal,” cookoff participant Annette Digiovanni said.All proceeds from the event are donated to the Holiday Helping Hands program which provides Christmas gifts to children in the area.
